Featured Artist of the Month: Rhobz Villaluna
I met this amazing person while volunteering for Type Kita: Pass on the Passion last December 2015. And yes, I have met so many people through volunteering that have been my friends also.
She’s a photographer who takes amazing photos and does amazing shoots. Not only that, but she does artwork with watercolor.
Getting to know Rhobz
Name:
Rhobynne Patricia “Rhobz” Villaluna
What made you start with this craft?
I wanted to overcome my frustrations with watercolor so I decided to attend a workshop.
How long have you been doing this craft?
A year and a half.
Why did you pursue it?
I really enjoyed doing it. It’s a great stress reliever and also a break from what I usually do.
Did you have struggles in pursuing the craft? If yes, could share it with us, please?
There was a time when I thought that I am not improving and that I could only copy from artists I admire. But when I read Austin Kleon’s “Steal Like an Artist”, I learned that as a beginner, copying is okay as long as you don’t take credit for it. So I decided to infuse what I learned through copying from other artists with my art and that’s how I developed my own style.
Favorite quote?
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13
Top 3 favorite tools?
- Watercolor
- Brush/brush pen
- Pencil
If you are to share your tips and tricks with newbies, what would those be?
Practice, practice, practice and when you feel like giving up, just practice. You don’t have to spend hours for it, a few minutes could do. Just do it and don’t be afraid to make mistakes, do art as if you won’t post it online and just enjoy the process.
If you were to describe the craft in three words, what will those be?
- Passion
- Happiness
- Progress

Yes indeed as an artist or an Individual practice is really one of the key in arts, I love the Bible verse Philippians 4:13, Amen to that. Love her works, I hope I could be as productive and creative as you are
Hello, Rhobz. Nice to meet you. I love your craft and the way you present your art. Though the lettering may look the same as others, your use of color makes your work different from others.
