Howdy, May! How have you been doing? May is the 5th month of the year and the month after April. It’s significant because it the time to think about things since a month from now, it’s the half of the year already.
Life Lately: Howdy, May!
It has been a while since I posted in this series. So, how has life been? But, how about you? How have you been?
As far as I remember, last month was the last time I posted for life lately. It’s May and I’m feeling a post coming in. A lot has been going on really. Both creative wise and career wise.
To start how my May has been going, here’s the list!
Cuaderno Pop-up
It was filled with our products which were both traditionally and digitally made. It was one of my personal dreams and aspirations to have a booth that would showcase some of my skills and abilities.
Products from Maarteng Letra which I’m part of are displayed here. Gjen Raquedan of Gjen Scribbles have displayed her products alongside Maarteng Letra as well. She’s hosting a giveaway. Head on to her Facebook page for details.

Freelancing
It has been more than a year since I told myself to step out there and try out freelancing. It has been a roller coaster ride for me. Looking for employers that would allow you to work on your passion projects and post-grad school is quite a hard work. Even office based work would somehow be skeptical hiring people who are pursuing their post-grad studies.
From being an online English tutor, I started out being a freelance writer last year and researched. One good thing about blogging is that my English skills had improved. Moreover, I was able to practice my writing and communication skills. For the rest of the year, I’m looking forward for more opportunities as a freelance writer or creative.

Creative Market Shop
Personally, I have a creative side that has been present since I was a kid. It started when I was a kid curious about how to play the piano. Lately, when my creative side is on, I would immediately grab my pens and paper. Then, I would just write and practice my letters and sentences. But a little while before calligraphy, I also tried exploring photography.
Capturing moments where people would express their emotions candidly would always get my attention. Sometimes, I love capturing the exhilarating view I see when I’m exploring the world. Recently, my boyfriend and I agreed to try sell our photos on Creative Market.
We’ve compiled our photos depending on the location. Made .zip file compressing all the photos and we upload it on the site.
From our vacation last April in Albay, we’ve gathered photos that we think could be used as stock photos and blog photos for people around the world.

Frustrated with TV Series
Aside from those things going on, there has been a lot of series that we have been watching that ended or just had their season finale. Some of the series we watched had their closures and ended well. Though some were just cut abruptly!
Speaking of 2 Broke Girls, the series were cut abruptly. I’m truly enraged by the decision of its makers because Max and Caroline haven’t reached their goals (from Season 1) just yet! Isn’t it frustrating?
Well, binge watching is inevitable once you love a series. From my Kdrama side, I am currently binge watching Goblin and Remember. Before that, I watched The Legend of the Blue Sea on iFlix.
Sometimes tv series can affect you so much that it will be so hard for you to move on when it ends. Just now, I am having some rough time dealing with the changes that will happen with Once Upon A Time.
So yes, I really do feel a lot with the series I watch. Also, if you are a tv series junkie like me, you may want to try TV Time to help you track the shows you watch.
Last but not the least
I’m preparing myself because finals are coming. It will be a lot harder since it’s for my post-grad degree. A lot has been happening and sometimes, thoughts of taking a break from school is really passing through my mind. There have been some issues that I think are occurring.
If you follow me on Twitter, I’ve been very vocal about mental health issues. It’s not a joke because it’s real. I just hope the perspective of other people would change towards mental health. If a person around you seems different, try telling them that they can have a friend in you.
I know that I have dreams and aspirations from my two sides. One of my creative goals is to have my own store as well or café that would house our products. From the logical side, my goal is to have a job that would help me support through my studies and finance my passion projects little by little.
I know this is out of this world but surely, time management is the key. Having a flow that you follow is really helpful when you are a multi-faceted person.
So how about you? How’s your life been?

I’m impressed that you’re actively pursuing your passion. I think I saw a similar booth in Cubao X a year ago and the same thought goes to mind – it’s impressive in that I think arts is not the most practical venture for earning income, yet people still do it. 🙂 Hope you have great results with that and your freelancing career.
I’ve been working at home for more than five years now… It used to be a part time job until I decided to take it full time. I worked as a freelance writer thru Upwork (previously Odesk) and I am so lucky to find a client who hired me for a long term job 🙂
haha I actually refrain myself from watching tv series cause If I find it so engaging, I cannot help myself but to follow it from start to finish hahaha and yes, once you’re fully engage with it, you will be greatly affected by the story… I find it so hard to move on when Glenn died in Walking dead hahaha
Good job, Maria! It seems a lot is going on with you lately. Good luck on your post grad and other passions in life. Strike while the iron is hot, so they say. Time is best resource that will help you breeze thru your personal pursuits.
Seems that a lot is happening lately! Never thought though that calligraphy can take yo to so such heights! I hope that you continue this passion you have and good luck with your post grad studies! <3
IF I’ll be writing my life lately it would comprise of me sitting down on my laptop and trying to read javascript. WHILE trying to calm 2 fighting toddlers on the side. Hahahaha!
Seriously? Read javascript? Dang girl. I salute you!
I admire the passion that you have, you’re harvesting the fruits of your labor, I’m so happy with your achievements, I know you can still achieve more with that motivation you have, just keep moving forward, totally inspired by you
Looks like you got a lot of time in your hands. As much as I want to have extra work (for extra additional income) I just can’t do so because having a baby is super busy and requires a lot of things to do. Working online has it’s ups especially if your in the creative part because more and more people are into arts and it reflects online. I remember reading a post before that you can sell your handcrafted items or drawings and people will surely buy it online.
I have found Upwork very difficult to work with. Let me see how Outsourcely works for me. Freelancing is very important for me so that my blog scales up even more. I read your bio- I think you are a wise young woman since you do so much with a smile on your lips. God bless.
