This will be about the moment wherein Sam and I did a collab work. There were two works and both were for his drawing challenge. This will also be my entry for this week’s Calli Thursdays. Enjoy!

S and T Collabs

Another item from the bucket list marked done. That is, to do a collab work with my partner. At first, I was really scared when he asked me to render / paint the sketch he made. It was a sunset scene and believe me, I’m totally mad in love with sunsets. Without much ado, I said yes! Seems like a proposal.

This photo was captured on the rooftop of the new place that I am currently residing in. This was when I was really wanting to see the cityscape from another perspective so I decided to go up. I seriously can’t remember who I was with but surely it should be Sam or I was alone then.

The sketch was done on a blank journal notebook from Yeah! notebooks, pencil for sketching was a Stabilo pencil no. 2 and when it was time for the rendering, I was using my brush pen from Craft Doodle PH alongside Simbalion watercolor.

Doing it was fun because it was like painting one Rose wearing only the diamond necklace yet it was scary since it was my first time to do something like that. Yes, I have mentioned that I have been practicing brush pen calligraphy but deep inside, I know I have not unlocked that kind of achievement yet.

This for me was a bit strong because almost each one of us become prisoners of our own thoughts, feelings and even experiences. We get depressed and sucked in into a world where we are the antagonists as well as the protagonists thinking we did every negative thing in the world and blame ourselves endlessly for the consequences that follow. Orange, here in our country has been associated with the prison or prisoners for eternity. For this challenge, the theme was something orange. I don’t know where he got the idea but honestly, I was thinking of the series, Orange is the New Black. I haven’t watched a single episode yet it somehow took the world by storm.

How it came to be:

For this, he did a sketch using pencil and left a space where I will do my part and that is, words done in calligraphy. Instinctively, I was hesitant when he asked me to do it since I was really afraid that I might ruin his artwork yet I don’t know what occurred and I just agreed to do it. Of course, I got my scratch papers and practiced before doing it on his notebook. As you may see, it came out pretty nice and it’s quite a proud moment for me.

Thoughts

Doing things together makes your relationship stronger. Sometimes, you have to do things on your own to get to know yourself better and sometimes you just do it. People may have mixed reactions with the relationship goal/s talk but this is one of my personal relationship goals in life. I’ve always imagined myself sharing one of my passions to a beloved. I would always think what would be the reaction I would receive after telling them. Sam was quite supportive with it and even pushes me to practice as long as it does not affect my studies.

Update: We’ve seen our progress from this artworks to our latest artworks. It taught us that in time, you will get better. Just make sure to keep your feet firm on the ground. We’ll always be grateful to those who have inspired us to be better and to the artists that we look up to.
