Last November 25, 2015, there was a workshop of bloggers during the event called Own Christmas! This was spearheaded by Top Pick Advertising and I was gladly invited to the event.
El Real x MQ
El Real was one of the sponsors of the event and I was really happy to receive their freebies. I received a kilo of El Real Healthy Spaghetti and regular spaghetti. At first, I was thinking of various ways on how will I be able to taste it or be productive with it up until my boyfriend told me he wanted some pasta. Then and there, I immediately told myself to use the goodies given by El Real to create my version of carbonara.
My recipe includes:
- 2-3 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 white onion
- tuna (420g)
- 3 packs of all purpose cream
- champiogne mushroom (180g)
- bacon, to act as flavor (250g)
- El Real Healthy Spaghetti – for this recipe, I used half of the pack which is around 500g
- Cook the El Real Healthy Spaghetti for around 10-12 minutes.
- Sauté the garlic, onions using the oil from the tuna. Afterwards, add the tuna and the mushrooms.
- Add the all purpose cream and reduce the heat.
- In a separate pan, cook the bacon with its own oil until golden brown or its crisp stage.
- Toss in El Real Healthy Pasta with the sauce and top it with the bacon bits.
|Voila! My version of tuna carbonara!|
Being aware of the various health issues in the country, my choice of ingredients is also very much affected. As much as possible, I try to eat healthy or cook healthy yet there are some inevitable circumstances that would really affect one’s decisions. My mom is an advocate of healthy foods, she has been very conscious of her health since we are not getting younger and younger as the days go by. She would always tell me to go on a healthy diet and skip instant foods and/or fast food but life in the metro and being a student is a struggle. Struggle because if you want to eat healthy, you need to spend for it.
More on El Real
Discovering that El Real has healthy spaghetti products, I was enticed to try it. Knowing that it’s the first naturally healthy spaghetti in the local market seems to do the trick. In addition to that, I’ve also heard that it’s made with real malunggay and carrot bits and also high in fiber due to the durum wheat semolina that has 0% cholesterol, 0% trans fat and has vitamins A, C and Calcium.

And from what our taste buds have experience, it does not taste vegetarian. Surely, kids and even kids at heart will love this pasta! You may use it to cook spaghetti in red sauce or marinara or pasta alfredo or pesto. There are various ways to use this product and that would really depend on you!
Having been told that it is available in our favorite supermarkets and groceries for only Php 44.00 for the 500g and Php 70.00 for a kilo. Why not turn your pasta dishes spaghealthy with El Real?
Surely, moms would want that and not only moms but almost all would want to live a healthy lifestyle.

I am def going to try this recipe. I love the fact that you added bacon to this recipe. I will check if our food stores in Cape Town- South Africa stock this brand of spaghetti. Ive also started making healthier food choices and I can certainly say I feel mush better. I look forward to trying out this recipe. I also like the fact that the ingredients are easy to find in the stores 🙂
