Life Lately: Life & Holidays 2016

Christmas is one of the most celebrated holidays all over the world! Life is celebrated everywhere in the world. This is the first post for this kind of posts on the blog. I’ve read a view blogs that has this kind of series and well, I just want to try this too! Btw, have a merry Christmas!

Life & Holidays 2016

As I write this blog post, typhoon Nina is making everyone in our area be alert. From celebrating Christmas and life to quickly packing and evacuating for safety. Many are stranded at ports, airports and even inside their homes. Rain is pouring and the electricity is fluctuating. Honestly, this is one of the gloomiest Christmas ever in my n years of existence in this world.

Life is such a complicated thing. Even if most of the time it is unfair, we still have a way with it and own it! I guess, that’s how it should be. Owning life!

It’s a Sunday (and my vacation too) so my usuals would be:
  • Currently, I’m reading A Clash of Kings (2nd book from A Song of Ice and Fire) by George R.R. Martin and Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert.
  • I have been listening to the television which was turned on by my mom, currently tuned into Going Bulilits (a local television show).
  • Lounging in my room while thinking about when to eat. Haha!
  • Thinking about how are my other relatives that are scattered all over the world. I am most worried about my aunt in Camarines Sur who is there to oversee things. I’m scared because it’s signal 4 there.
  • Hoping that this typhoon would just go away and let everyone go home safely. Those who are stranded sure are struggling on how to manage things on their end.
  • I’m also wondering how to write about the various blog ideas that are popping in and out of my head! It feels overwhelming to have such ideas. But first, our internet connection here should improve before anything else!
  • I just finished doing a creative output on a piece of plywood. This is so far the biggest I’ve done!

I guess that’s it for my very first life lately post! Enjoy your holidays! 😃

Merry Christmas everyone!

Unfortunately, I was working on Christmas day as also the previous day… Fortunately, here in Greece we have no typhoons 🙂
I wish you a happy New Year and enjoy yourself on New Year’s Eve whatever you are planning to do!

Christmas is like any other day for me. I live alone, so I did the things I do daily. But on Facebook I see how everyone seems to be on the holiday mode, but for the last decade or so, I have always insisted on Christmas as nothing special. BUT what is special is the rest of the other days other than Christmas, because those are the days we live with the spirit of Christmas, as opposed to living it for one day. So ordinary days ahead too for me. 🙂

Merry Christmas to you! I love the Christmas season especially cause I’m off work for almost 2 weeks hehe. I hope you weren’t so affected by the typhoon! We were in La Union at the time, we weren’t able to go swimming in the ocean because of it. But it’s okay, better to be safe than sorry right? Happy Holidays! 😀

I hope you’re safe after Nina. We just survived cyclone Vardha here and the electricity had resumed but network is still fluctuating. Take care Maria. Wishing you a great year ahead,

Happy Holidays, Maria! I spent my Christmas writing my first blog post as well.

Since you like art and calligraphy, I think you would love to check out our events also in Metro Manila at http://www.worldextravaganza.org, an Open Mic Community Music and Arts Organization I spearhead. I have a few of the calligraphy pens I bought from Scribe Writing Essentials in SM Megamall. Also, a really cool journal notebook from http://www.everythingcalligraphy.com. I really should spend some time with my pens as well. Cheers, hope to see you around. 🙂

Christmas for me this year was catching up with family and catching up on work coz I traveled. It feels nice to bond with family. Xmas should always be about one’s self and family.

This Christmas, I went on a haunted tour to one of the old places in Delhi. In my neighbourhood, a day before, someone was singing a christmas carol. Generally in Delhi, Christmas is a low key affair. But this time around, many Delhiites indulged in some serious revelry.

I hope everything’s fine, yes indeed Christmas is the season I’m always excited about, I’m happy this year I was able to celebrate it with my family, last 2 years was a terror, I was working and I don’t want to feel that way again. Merry Christmas and advance Happy New Year

Christmas in our little family is a confusing affair. I had giant christmases when i was little (which one year just stopped and it turned sad), my husband had painful and stressful christmases and so we are both a bit anti christmas. The kids on the other hand have become christmasized with so much visual overload on videos and decorations. We gave in and did some christmas stuff. Santa gave them presents on the morning of the 26th and my six year old cried in happiness. My husband and I were perplexed to say the least.

I had a well spent time with my close friends during Christmas. There was so much fun and food to share with them as well. Yes, I heard about the typhoon which also saddened me as well. We always had this kind of events in our country and its sad that there are people who suffer from the natural calamities during Christmas. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I love lazy Christmas days! I envy you your experience of being able to lounge around (of course, I am glad the rains didn’t ruin the day for you!), relaxing and enjoying a slow day. Mine was filled with cooking! We always have a Christmas brunch with my parents and siblings and their families, so the day is often buzzing with activity. I both like it and am tired by it! How I wish I could catch up on some reading like you did. Guess I will have to find a babysitter first this year before I can do that!

Never had to experience a gloomy christmas. Hope rain wasn’t a spoilsport. But in a way, some times, staying at home, reading books, muching your favorite food, following your hobby at peace can be fun too I guess…

Oh goodness I do hope that all of your family and friends are safe now and that you were able to celebrate Christmas together!

I was grateful to have my sons showing me the magic of Christmas otherwise honestly I’d have skipped it. There is so much buildup through our December that the day is often underwhelming. Thankfully my boys helped bring the Christmas cheer and we were able to enjoy the day together.

I know you love a good binge-watch so hopefully you got some of that in over the holiday break!

I hope you’re safe Maria! I’ve been living through a hurricane also during summer “11, and I felt there were so much to be careful for, along evacuation also! Furthermore, I don’t celebrate Christmas, but Hanoukkah, and for me, this period of the year is also pretty special. It’s all about holidays, taking things slow, and making it all about family and caring for the one’s you love! It’s definitely my favorite moment of the year, except for the rain and cold! xx

Thanks for sharing how you spent your holidays! Mine is so tiring, going from one family get together to another, attending one corporate party of a client to another… it drives me crazy! Glad that the government declared 1/2/17 as holiday because I also need a holiday from the holidays.
